The backbone of our reputation is the strict adherence to stringent drug testing. We place the highest importance on ensuring that athletes are drug-free so as to ensure fair competition at each and every event Worldwide. We are proud to announce that we have over 22,000 urine test results on file since 1989!
THE USE OF DRUGS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!
All WNBF athletes must be a minimum of 10 years drug-free of prescription/pharmaceutical hormones on the banned substance list, and two years free of over-the-counter hormones, pro-hormones, or banned substances listed or their chemical counterparts, unless otherwise noted, prior to their first WNBF competition.
NOTICE: As of January 2022, urine or polygraph drug test failures for anabolic-androgenic steroids, growth hormones, peptides, SARM's & SERM's products, and use of other oral or injectable performance-enhancing substances will incur a lifetime ban from WNBF membership privileges.
WNBF WORLD AFFILIATE BANNED SUBSTANCE LIST
WNBF drug testing policies and procedures are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code & Prohibited List for its anti-doping procedures and testing policies. This prohibited list and banned items and timeframes listed on this website are guides to determining athlete eligibility. IT IS THE ATHLETES RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK AND ABIDE BY THESE LISTS AT ALL TIMES!
**The following list of substances and related compounds are banned by the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation. Their use constitutes grounds for dismissal from WNBF competitions and suspension from membership privileges in the organization for a period of ten (10) Years To Life from the failure date**
Please read all supplement ingredients carefully; athletes are responsible for being vigilant regarding their supplement usage.
NEW AMATEUR COMPETITORS ONLY must not have used any pharmaceutical/over the counter hormone or pro-hormone products for a minimum of two (2) years. ALL SARM's/SERM's products for a minimum of five (5) years before joining the WNBF for the first time. Any banned supplement history will be evaluated on a one on one basis to determine eligibility and will be confirmed via polygraph examination at WNBF Worldwide events.
CONSENT TO DRUG TESTING – When an athlete purchases a WNBF membership, you are providing consent to the WNBF to urine drug test you at events and/or randomly in and out of season. Athletes who refuse a test will have membership privileges terminated indefinitely.
*PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION NOTICE
At no point may any athlete use a prescription more frequently or at higher dosages than prescribed by their physician. Medications may never be used for bodybuilding or weight loss purposes. All prescriptions have to be up to date, and a copy of the actual physicians notes and the prescription must be presented to the WNBF and it's promoters/affiliates Worldwide in order for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) to be issued.
*TYPE I & TYPE II DIABETES
Athletes competing with this chronic disease may never purposefully manipulate their insulin prescription for muscle enhancing purposes. It is normal for diabetics to have to use more or less of their prescription due to fluctuation blood glucose levels. Similarly with the WNBF prescription medication policy, any purposeful manipulation of insulin or other drugs to enhance one's body will be verified on the polygraph. Any deception noted or if there is a polygraph failure this will incur a lifetime ban from WNBF membership privileges.
The following banned substance list is effective as of September 2, 2009
ALL ANABOLIC STEROIDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
GROWTH HORMONES & PEPTIDES
ANABOLIC AGENTS, PRO HORMONES, PRECURSERS, METABOLITES, DERIVATIVES, AND RELATED COMPOUNDS
PRO HORMONAL FAT BURNING SUPPLEMENTS
The presence of any banned substance in urine (i.e., nandrolone), no matter how it arrived there, is ruled as positive (Urine Test Failure)
HORMONE & METABOLIC MODULATORS
All hormones and metabolic modulators used to improve athletic performance are banned for use
GLP 1 - Glucagon Like Peptide
NON prescribed GLP-1 and/or related compounds are banned for a duration of three (3) months and will be screened for during polygraph testing. As of January 1, 2026, GLP-1 substances move to a 1 Year ban.
*Prescribed GLP-1. A Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) may be granted but the following process and documentation is required, NO exceptions!
(1) A copy of the physicians signed clinical note from the visit that documents a diabetes diagnosis code; that clearly demonstrates
(2) Within that same clinical note the physicians plan was to prescribe a GLP-1 inhibitor; then
(3) A copy of the physicians prescription - electronic or hardcopy - from that same visit for the GLP-1 inhibitor; and finally
(4) Copies of the documentation from the pharmacy that they indeed filled the prescription as written.
A simple physicians note will not be accepted or even reviewed. Only the legal documentation in a patient’s clinical chart is eligible for review.
Until all four (4) elements are provided there will be absolutely no review. Once we receive all four elements the documentation will be reviewed for consistency with respect to dates and diagnosis. All determinations are made on a case-by-case basis and there will be no comparisons between the documentation of one athlete to another.
PRESCRIPTION DIURETICS & MASKING AGENTS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Any and all prescription diuretics, even when physician prescribed, used for bodybuilding purposes are banned for (3) months prior to WNBF competitions.
** If an athlete possesses heart-related complications, a TUE may be issued for competition.
** Spironolactone that is prescribed for acne MAY NOT be used for 14 days prior to competing in any WNBF Event, No Exceptions!
Clenbuterol:
Prescribed and non-prescribed clenbuterol usage will carry a two (2) Year ban time Frame for NEW athletes wanting to join the WNBF.
GHB is banned!

& STIMULANTS
** Due to the abundance of supplements and pre-workout products containing DMAA and/or related compounds, there shall be a 30-day amnesty period before an athlete is eligible to compete in any WNBF event for the first time.
PSYCHOMOTOR STIMULANTS
Stimulants/medications prescribed or non-prescribed used for bodybuilding and/or weight loss purposes are prohibited. Athletes who are physician-prescribed medications with a “stimulating” effect must have an active prescription and must notify promoters and the WNBF for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Additionally, these medications may never be abused. Stimulants or medications that produce similar physiological effects, even if not expressly listed here, are prohibited for use. Aggressive weight loss drugs are ineligible for a TUE.
DRUG TESTING INQUIRY
- Only serious inquiries regarding eligibility will be responded to
- There is a mandatory two (2) year ban timeframe on any over the counter supplement/substance appearing on the banned substance list including DHEA, and 7 keto DHEA products. SARM's & SERM's products impose a 5 year ban timeframe
- Testosterone in any form is prohibited even when physician prescribed.
- Any illegal or synthetic controlled substance (whether it is illegal in your country or not) that appears on the WADA Prohibited List incurs a mandatory 10 Year Ban Timeframe from WNBF Worldwide membership.
