Drug testing is our top priority
IT IS THE ATHLETES RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK AND ABIDE BY THESE LISTS AT ALL TIMES!
The backbone of our reputation is the strict adherence to stringent drug testing. We place the highest importance on ensuring that athletes are drug-free so as to ensure fair competition at each and every event Worldwide. We are proud to announce that we have over 40,000 urine test results on file since 1989!
The use of drugs is strictly prohibited
All WNBF athletes must be a minimum of 10 years drug-free from all Anabolic Androgenic Agents, Peptides, HGH, Growth Hormones, and prescription/pharmaceutical hormones on the banned substance list. Minimum of two years free of over-the-counter hormones, pro-hormones, or banned substances listed or their chemical counterparts, unless otherwise noted, prior to their first WNBF competition. There may be different ban timeframes with select agents in a paticular class. Please read the entire banned substance list!NOTICE: As of January 2022, urine or polygraph drug test failures for anabolic-androgenic steroids, growth hormones, peptides, SARM's products, and use of other oral or injectable PEDs will incur a lifetime ban from WNBF membership privileges.

WNBF World Affiliate Drug Testing Rules
The following list of substances and related compounds are banned by the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation. Their use constitutes grounds for dismissal from WNBF competitions and suspension from membership privileges in the organization for a period of ten (10) Years To Life from the failure date
Please read all supplement ingredients carefully; athletes are responsible for being vigilant regarding their supplement usage.
NEW AMATEUR COMPETITORS ONLY must not have used any pro-hormones or SARM’s products for a minimum of five (5) years and DHEA & 7 keto DHEA two (2) before joining the WNBF for the first time. Over the counter banned supplement history will be evaluated on a one on one basis to determine eligibility and will be confirmed via polygraph examination.
Consent To Drug Testing
When an athlete purchases a WNBF membership, you are providing consent to the WNBF to urine or polygraph drug test you at events and/or randomly in and out of season. Athletes who refuse a test will have membership privileges terminated indefinitely.
Polygraph Testing Notice
We require all competitors to take and pass an intense polygraph test and in their own language. If an athlete does not speak the native language in a country they are competing in it is the athletes responsibility to inform the WNBF Affiliate Promoter of this language barrier, and they must hire professional translation services at their own expense.
This test is good for 6 weeks for amateurs and Pro’s. If you are entering another WNBF event within the 6 week timeframe please let the Affiliate/Promoter know you have been tested and they will confirm this with a WNBF official.
*WNBF athletes from all countries consent to be surprise polygraph tested in and out of season.
Prescription Medication Notice
At no point may any athlete use a prescription more frequently or at higher dosages than prescribed by their physician. Medications may never be used for bodybuilding or weight loss purposes. For prescription medications to be approved by the WNBF consulting physician please submit the following documentation;
(1) A copy of the physicians signed clinical note from the visit that documents a genetic disorder, hormone deficiency, or a significant injury and a diagnosis code that clearly demonstrates
(2) Within that same clinical note the physicians plan to prescribe the specific drug; then
(3) A copy of the physicians prescription – electronic or hardcopy – from that same visit for the abnormality/injury; and finally
(4) Copies of the documentation from the pharmacy that they indeed filled the prescription as written.
A simple physicians note will not be accepted or even reviewed. Only the legal documentation in a patient’s clinical chart is eligible for review.
Until all four (4) elements are provided there will be absolutely no review. Once we receive all four elements the documentation will be reviewed for consistency with respect to dates and diagnosis. All determinations are made on a case-by-case basis and there will be no comparisons between the documentation of one athlete to another.

Testosterone
All exogenous testosterone, in any form, including creams, gels, patches, pellets, and injections, for any reason, even if a physician prescribed, is strictly prohibited. No Exceptions.
Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) equipment is used to determine Testosterone/Epitestosterone (T/E) Ratios. Urine specimens in excess of a 4/1 ratio are red flagged and ruled as positive tests, no matter what the cause. In the event of elevated T/E results (which can occur naturally in a very small percentage of the population) further, testing will be done via IRMS/CIR to determine if exogenous testosterone is present in the urine. This will be done at the athlete’s expense via a WADA-accredited lab in Utah.
Athletes with an elevated T/E may be banned for 10 years to life even if additional IRMS/CIR testing is not conducted.

Anabolic agents, pro-hormones, precursers, metabolites, derivatives & Related Compounds

- Designer and Pro Steroids are Banned and Carry a 10-Year Ban Time-frame e.g. Superdrol, Sdrol, Ergomax LMG, Tren, Trena
- SARMs – 5 Year Ban (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators)
- 5-Etioallocholen-3b,7b,17b-trial and/or substances similar in structure– January 1, 2020, these substances shall carry a two (2) year ban time frame.
- Any hormone, including insulin (injectable, oral, sublingual, or otherwise), used for bodybuilding purposes.
DHEA precursors and their metabolites and isomers. Use of the following substances impose a 2 year ban timeframe prior to competing in the WNBF or affiliate federations for the first time.
- DHEA
- 7 Keto DHEA, including but not limited to 7-ketodehydroepiandrosterone, 7-oxodehydroepiandrosterone, 7α-hydroxy-DHEA, and 7β-hydroxy-DHEA
Pro Hormonal Fat burning supplements
Including, but not limited to…
10 Year ban
The presence of any banned substance in urine (i.e., nandrolone), no matter how it arrived there, is ruled as positive (Urine Test Failure)
Prescription Thyroid Hormone Medication, when used for bodybuilding purposes is banned.
Hormone & Metabolic Modulators
All hormones and metabolic modulators used to improve athletic performance are banned for use. Hormones carry a 10 Year Ban timeframe and SARM’s carry a 5 year Ban timeframe from the last date of use.

GLP 1- Glucagon Like Peptide
Non-prescribed GLP-1 and/or related compounds are banned for a duration of three (3) months and will be screened for during polygraph testing. As of January 1, 2027, GLP-1 substances move to a 1 Year ban.
Prescribed GLP-1- therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) may be granted but the following process and documentation is required, NO exceptions:
(1) A copy of the physicians signed clinical note from the visit that documents a diabetes diagnosis code; that clearly demonstrates
(2) Within that same clinical note the physicians plan was to prescribe a GLP-1 inhibitor; then
(3) A copy of the physicians prescription – electronic or hardcopy – from that same visit for the GLP-1 inhibitor; and finally
(4) Copies of the documentation from the pharmacy that they indeed filled the prescription as written.
A simple physicians note will not be accepted or even reviewed. Only the legal documentation in a patient’s clinical chart is eligible for review.
Until all four (4) elements are provided there will be absolutely no review. Once we receive all four elements the documentation will be reviewed for consistency with respect to dates and diagnosis. All determinations are made on a case-by-case basis and there will be no comparisons between the documentation of one athlete to another.

Any and all prescription diuretics, even when physician prescribed, used for bodybuilding purposes are banned for (3) months prior to WNBF competitions*

GHB is banned
* If an athlete possesses heart-related complications, a TUE/MEA may be issued for competition.
* Finasteride is no longer on the WADA banned substance list, and is subsequently permitted for use by the WNBF with a prescription from a licensed medical provider; for medical conditions historically treated with 5-alpha predicate inhibitors; and at usual and customary dosing for that condition. The WNBF reserves the right to request the physician’s office notes documenting both the diagnosis and the full prescription. Athletes are responsible for disclosing this and all prescription medications to promoters of all WNBF Worldwide events.
** Small amounts of glycerol found in nutritional supplements are not considered banned.
*** Spironolactone that is prescribed for acute acne requires a TUE/MEA and must be submitted to the WNBF prior to any event, No Exceptions!

Psychomotor Stimulants
Stimulants/medications prescribed or non-prescribed used for bodybuilding and/or weight loss purposes are prohibited. Athletes who are physician-prescribed medications with a “stimulating” effect must have an active prescription and must notify promoters and the WNBF for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE/MEA). Additionally, these medications may never be abused. Stimulants or medications that produce similar physiological effects, even if not expressly listed here, are prohibited for use.
A prescribed psychomotor stimulant Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE/MEA) may be granted and used in season but the following process and documentation is required;

Any substance(s) in this category that produces intoxicating effects are banned for use for 48 hours prior to taking a polygraph examination with the WNBF.
If an athlete fails a test and the polygraph examiner determines the athlete is under the influence, the consequences are commensurate with our polygraph and/or urine test failure ban time frames.

- There is a mandatory two (2) year ban timeframe on any over the counter supplement/substance appearing on the banned substance list including DHEA, 7 keto DHEA, and Six OXO and/or related compounds.
- There is a five (5) year ban timeframe for ALL SERM's & SARM's usage.
- Any illegal or synthetic controlled substance (whether it is illegal in your country or not) that appears on the WADA Prohibited List incurs a mandatory 10 Year Ban Timeframe from WNBF Worldwide membership.
